Epitalon (Epithalon): A Telomerase and Longevity Research Guide
What is Epitalon?
Epitalon, also spelled Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide modelled on a natural peptide produced by the pineal gland. It is one of the most-studied compounds in the longevity research category, where it is investigated primarily for its reported effect on telomerase — the enzyme that maintains the protective caps, or telomeres, at the ends of chromosomes. Because telomere shortening is one of the recognised hallmarks of cellular ageing, a compound studied for telomerase activity sits at the centre of ageing research.
Studied mechanisms of action
In research models, Epitalon is investigated for its ability to activate telomerase, the enzyme that adds telomeric repeats and can offset the gradual shortening of telomeres that accompanies cell division. By this route it is studied for effects on cellular lifespan and replicative capacity. Epitalon is also examined for its influence on the pineal gland and circadian regulation, including melatonin signalling, reflecting the gland from which its parent peptide originates. The links between telomere biology, circadian rhythm and broader markers of ageing are the threads that researchers follow when studying it.
The state of the research
Epitalon has a preclinical and early-clinical literature, much of it originating from Russian gerontology research, spanning cell models, animal studies and some longevity-oriented human observations. The telomerase findings are of strong interest within that body of work but remain to be broadly replicated and established outside it, and questions of dosing, delivery and long-term effect are still open. Within the research-compound community it is treated as an exploratory longevity tool. Results remain preclinical.
Handling & storage for research
Supplied as a lyophilised powder. Store sealed vials cold and protected from light; reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for laboratory handling and keep the reconstituted solution refrigerated, using it within the appropriate window. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and vigorous agitation, which can degrade peptide integrity. Every Aura Labs batch ships with a third-party certificate of analysis confirming identity and purity above 99%.
Why researchers choose Aura Labs
Aura Labs supplies research peptides across Southeast Asia with third-party testing on every batch, a certificate of analysis available for each lot, and discreet, fast regional dispatch. Purity, accurate labelling and reproducible quality are the priorities researchers rely on for consistent results.
