How to reconstitute a peptide
- Bring vials to room temperature. Let the lyophilized peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water sit until they reach room temperature.
- Add the water slowly. Draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water and let it run gently down the inside wall of the vial, never inject it directly onto the powder.
- Swirl, don’t shake. Gently swirl or roll the vial until fully dissolved. Shaking can damage the peptide.
- Store correctly. Refrigerate the reconstituted vial at 2–8°C and use within its stable window. Store unreconstituted vials below 25°C, away from light.
Reading the result
On a standard U-100 insulin syringe, the barrel is marked 0–100 “units” (IU), where 100 IU equals 1 ml. The calculator’s middle figure is the unit line to draw to for the target dose at the concentration you mixed. Halving the bacteriostatic water doubles the concentration and halves the draw volume — useful when you want smaller, more precise draws.
