AHK-Cu: A Copper Tripeptide Hair-Research Guide
What is AHK-Cu?
AHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide — alanine-histidine-lysine complexed with copper — and a close relative of the more widely known copper tripeptide GHK-Cu. Like other copper peptides, it is studied for its role in delivering copper to tissue and in the signalling that copper supports, but AHK-Cu is examined in particular for pathways relevant to the hair follicle, which is the central reason it appears in cosmetic and follicle-oriented research.
Studied mechanisms of action
In research models, AHK-Cu is investigated as a copper carrier that may influence the microvascular environment around the hair follicle and the signalling that supports follicle structures. Copper peptides as a class are studied for their effects on the extracellular matrix, angiogenesis and growth-factor signalling; AHK-Cu is examined specifically for follicle-associated endpoints such as dermal-papilla activity and the vascular support of follicles. Its small tripeptide structure and copper-binding behaviour are studied alongside those of GHK-Cu, with which it is often compared.
The state of the research
AHK-Cu has a focused preclinical and cosmetic-research literature, smaller than that of GHK-Cu, centred on hair and follicle models. Evidence remains preclinical and model-dependent, and questions of delivery, stability and comparison to related copper peptides are still being explored. Within the research community it is treated as an exploratory copper-peptide tool. Results remain preclinical.
Handling & storage for research
Supplied as a lyophilised powder. Store sealed vials cold and protected from light; reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for laboratory handling and keep the reconstituted solution refrigerated, using it within the appropriate window. Copper peptides can be sensitive to handling, so avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and vigorous agitation. Every Aura Labs batch ships with a third-party certificate of analysis confirming identity and purity above 99%.
Why researchers choose Aura Labs
Aura Labs supplies research peptides across Southeast Asia with third-party testing on every batch, a certificate of analysis available for each lot, and discreet, fast regional dispatch. Purity, accurate labelling and reproducible quality are the priorities researchers rely on for consistent results.
